August second update

August 29th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Business, Online

Well it seems I can code a tad…  Or at least I can CSS / HTML and then by using logic figure out how various PHP snippets can be integrated with MySQL in a usable Registration and login screen for my project.

Includes all field filled checks, that email is sane, password strength check and CAPTCHA anti spambot.

Im happy :)

August progress

August 2nd, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Business, Online

I’m a little behind in designing the finale and complete website - mostly be course its actually a “big thing” I’m doing here..

Well the Chinese contracted coders (CCC) have tried to deliver a “finished” phase 1, two times now. However they seem not to be quite as sharp as I would like. No details here, but I’m most likely to have a full recode/design when the project has been alive for a few months incubation.

The site when finished will deliver digital goods, and as such can be the core for a wide range of projects.

I have used GetAFreelancer.com again, this time to get a NDA and Outsourcing contract done.

Further I have begun collecting material for other markets than the initial project. Freelancers can be used for a lot of things, and one huge thing is Copywriting - I will take a few topics and have some articles written. for this there are ar few good places like:

http://copyscape.com/ - check that your delivered material isent just a blank copy of somebody elses - this can be used for a vararity of things - like FAQ, EULA, distribution, copyright, terms, agreements - and probably in several languages.

Outsourcing update July

July 8th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Business, Online

While im moving about (from my own apartment to my girlfriends), my Chinese team is steadily working ahead.

I have been communicating quite a bit with my Outsource Developer.

The good news is that the demo of “phase 1″ is about to be delivered!

But there is some more work from my hand to be made… I need to do a 100% design finish. Somehow I thought they could deliver the code without having to see the front/web design finished.

I have seperated this first project into “technical” phases. And the Phase 1 is “baseline” - the technical background architecture/webdesign. Then theres a flash, payment and delivery, and then the addon applications (facebook/myspace/widgets).

Hopefully the initial launch can happen 01.10.2008, Im staying Optimistic.

Advanced SEO

June 17th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Online

Just saw this presentation by Nathan Buggia “Advanced SEO for Web Developers”
(SEO means Search Engine Optimization)

http://sessions.visitmix.com/?selectedSearch=BT03

Its an 1 hour 15 minutes presentation. after 30 mins its Q&A and examplifications.

My Keynotes:

Subdomains aggregate rankings.
a site can have w3.site.com & site.com & site.com/page
use 301 redirection to point to same domain, and stick to this.

Also for pages deleted / removed.. if site has restructured, do not use 404, insert a 301 redirect instead.

“we do NOT aggregate [ranking] on folders but on subdomains” …blablabla “so we can recognice blogspot type sites”

urls / folders with products should NOT be: www.site.com/mobile_nokia_1234_blue/ becourse the coders of SearchEngines uses _ to call all words for 1 word.. (odd) but use “-” to seperate like: www.site.com/mobile-nokia-1234-blue/. This will give 4 keywords in the url.

He said something about a sitemap.xaml.. showing the crawler an overview, but I dident catch if its currently active on Search Engines.

Images should be called “mobile-nokia-1234-blue.jpg” instead of “img2345.jpg”.

Keywords, dont use <meta keywords> as most engines ignore them, google does, and Nathan Buggia hinted that so does Live. [ in danish, also read this: meta-keywords-tag ]

“where the inbound links go, the crawler does too”

The most important tags in the html:
the link description is a keyword <a>keyword</a>
<h1> headers (but esp h1) is keywords
<title> is very important
<meta> write an accurate description
<img ALT=”"> use the ALT to get even more keywords

The “black box” unreadables by crawlers:
Java, Javascript, images, css..

If you have a very dynamic site, use a lightweight html page that loads superfast with lots of descriptions, then link to the real contents from this.

Gennem en artikkel om pageranks i Computerworld fandt jeg frem til

http://netnationen.dk/lists/deleted-domains/

Som er et udemærket sted at finde “brugte” domains.

Genbrug er godt, man kan blive positivt overrasket over hvilke fede navne der er frigivet, samt få god inspiration over hvilke ord andre forlk har sammensat.

Facebook insideout

Domain name hunting

April 29th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Online
